Catholic Identity

At St Francis Xavier College, we seek to be an authentic Catholic learning environment where we aim to build upon our Catholic identity. To promote and celebrate the Christian faith and the spirituality of all College members in partnership with families and the wider community.  Our Religious Education and faith programs are designed to support each student to grow in faith by proclaiming the Gospel and invite all to share in the saving mission of Christ.

The Religious Education Curriculum developed by the Diocese of Sale, Journeying Together in Hope is mandatory for all Student’s from years 7 to 10. Students are challenged to reflect on their faith and develop a mature understanding of its symbolic nature through ritual, prayer, Mass and our Catholic Church Tradition. Through dialogue they are encouraged to engage in the world and develop a sense of mission that is inspired by the presence of Christ in their lives.

The College provides many opportunities for students to enrich their faith and spirituality that enhances the distinctive Catholic Identity of St Francis Xavier College. Each member of our community is made in the image of God, and is called to develop that relationship, and to act with justice and compassion towards all people, recognising their human dignity. Faith development activities include:

  • Regular celebration of Eucharist and regular liturgies in Houses, Year levels and College Celebrations
  • Fundraising via voluntary organizations such as Young Vinnies, Caritas, Soup Van and Community Service
