Your son or daughter is now more than half way through their Year 10 education and will soon be entering into VCE/VCAL. We see the next few months as extremely important in assisting them with a smooth and successful transition into this stage of their studies.
In many ways, Year 10 is a pivotal year for your child when many decisions that may impact on their future are made. To ensure Year 10 students are properly prepared for these decisions, many initiatives have been implemented this year to assist them.
The Year 11 2018 Information Evening will be held on Thursday 20 July. The evening will be held at Beaconsfield Campus involving presentations regarding VCE, VCAL and VET in the Maree Johnson Auditorium. These more formal presentations will be held at 6.00pm – 6.30pm, and then repeated at 6.45pm – 7.15pm and 7.30pm – 8pm. Parents and guardians may choose to attend the session which best suits them. These presentations are aimed more for parents and guardians as students will attend an assembly with related information. The presentation will include a demonstration on how to access the online 2018 Curriculum Information Book as well as the process for subject preference selection. Representatives of Universities and TAFEs as well as VCE, VCAL and VET teachers will be in the Hall to answer individual questions from parents, guardians and students from 5.45pm until 8.00pm. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions relating the student’s individual program.
To further support the subject preference selection process, all current Year 10 students, together with a parents/guardians, are required to attend a meeting to discuss and select subject preferences for 2018. Students can only be enrolled in 2018 subjects after a meeting. Meetings run for fifteen minutes and will be held during the following times.
Information regarding booking your meeting time will be communicated at the Year 11 2018 Information Evening.
Please note that limited parking is available on campus behind the chapel and beside the hall. It is imperative that parents do not park on the premises of nearby local businesses.
I look forward to meeting you on Thursday 20 July at Beaconsfield Campus.
