CURRICULUM - BEACONSFIELD CAMPUS

INTRODUCTION
On the senior campus the College seeks to provide all students with increased access to success. While a study of core subjects is essential in laying the foundations of the student’s education, choice provides an opportunity to broaden this foundation in the areas of a student’s personal interest and/or ability.

The College offers a wide range of subjects for VCE.  However, admission to the VCE is dependent upon the student being able to construct a viable and educationally sound course of studies. In establishing the educational soundness of a course of studies, the College will examine the requirements of the VCE, the range of studies selected in terms of the student’s past achievements, declared career options and the appropriateness of the mix of studies.
There are also opportunities for students to undertake VET or VCAL courses.

VET & TAFE Courses
There are two types of programmes offered through the College. VETIS (Vocational Education & Training in Schools) courses – these are part of the VCE and contribute to units of the VCE and ENTER score.

VET Courses
As an RTO the College operates a wide variety of VET courses at the Beaconsfield Campus.
Certificate II in Business
Certificate II in Information Technology
Certificate II in Hospitality
Certificate III in Music Industry (Technical Production)
Certificate III in Media
Certificate II in Community Recreation

The second type of Pathways Courses are off campus. These courses are for students who wish to go into an apprenticeship or continue a certificate after completing their VCE

Pathways Programmes.

VCAL
The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is a 'hands on' option for senior (Year 11 or Year 12) students. However, unlike the VCE, which is widely used by students as a pathway to university, VCAL focuses on 'hands on learning'. Students who undertake VCAL are more likely to be interested in going on to training at TAFE, doing an apprenticeship, or getting a job.
VCAL is accredited at three levels:

  • Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (Foundation).
  • Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (Intermediate).
  • Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (Senior).
